Hyungshin Kim received his B.S. and Ph. D. degrees in computer science from Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), in 1990 and 2003 respectively and M.S. degree in satellite communication engineering from University of Surrey, U.K. in 1990. From 1989 to 1992, Professor Kim worked for Surrey Space Center, U.K. as a researcher. He was one of the nine Koreans who built the first Korean satellite, called KITSAT-1. In 1992, he returned to Korea and joined the Satellite Technology Research Center(SaTReC) at KAIST, where he worked on real-time operating system and on-board computer system for satellites. From 1999 to 2000, he was the project manager for the development of a small satellite, KAISTSAT-1. Since joining the real-time computing laboratory at KAIST in 1994, his research interest was extended to multimedia signal processing and security. During 2003-2004, he was a post-doctoral researcher at Carnegie Mellon University. He is currently with Chungnam National University, as an associate professor in Dept. of computer science and engineering. His research interest includes embedded system, ubiquitous computing, secure embedded system and multimedia system.
